We usually sleep early and do end up getting early at times. Today was one of those days when my hubby dressed for an early walk wearing a lovely T-shirt that had a fine print of soaring Eagle.
I was still wrapped in my sheets when he asked me to jump and come downstairs. There he stood carrying a wounded eagle cuddled up in his hands, which he had found in Lodhi Gardens, the considered heaven in Delhi. To keep it warm and protected from our super active beagle and the bossy cat, we offered this wounded bird a cozy corner to recoup. I requested hubby to bring a few eagle feathers from the garden to give him the feel of his convocation. I kept caressing him with the peacock feather as he shrunk with the human touch.
Like many other times in need, I shared the event on whatsapp. As the new lingo goes -a friend in need is whatsapp indeed, I was taken over by the helping hands -friends and bird’s rescue organizations. Contacted Mr. Vipin resident of Shahpurjat, a transporter by occupation who helped the wounded birds. After a little hesitation I contacted him little before the regular time. And, the gentleman immediately forwarded a few contacts for the injured eagle who was categorized under Wildlife rescue.
Sanjay from WildlifeSOS in Defence Colony reached my home within the promised time. The eagle, who by then I named ‘Feather’ was carried by the carrier, put in the carton and gone.
Fascinatingly, both the rescuer and the carrier shared the same name RAVI.
