Swimming at 50

I turned 50 last June and very enthusiastically sat down to write my goals to reach this year. Swimming topped the list. Although, I had tried and drowned a couple of times which forced me to sit at the poolside and sip coffee watching my sons and husband gliding through the water. Believe me, I was jealous every time.

I am choosy. By now I know what I do not want, that filters to what I want. I wanted to learn from a lady coach, the best lady coach who had to be good human first, confident coach second and a motivator third. I found all in Meenakshi Pahuja, a humble and an expert coach.

So in 7 days i.e. 7 hours, Meenakshi taught me, breathing techniques, the secret of not drowning, and diving and completing the length of the pool. WOW!

I learned 4 lessons during the last seven days,

  1. Timely breathing
  2. Building stamina
  3. Saving myself
  4. Trusting your mentor

These lessons reconfirmed the skills of living:

The right way to breathing saves one from tough and rough situations, pushing your limits helps building stamina which in turn keeps unnecessary fatigue away and motivates one to reach the final goals of life, always know when to ask for help and exit at the right time especially when life pulls you down and the last, not the least the mentor plays the most important part in your life, so wait till you choose or as it says be open to let the best mentor choose you.

Today, I am confident to swim across the pool swiftly and effortlessly.

Thank you, Meenakshi, my coach, and the mentor. It’s time to flaunt the bikini, which has been rolled inside hidden somewhere in my drawers;)
