And I bow down….

I am the greedy one, greedy to receive blessings, greedy to receive gifts, greedy for love, greedy to be pampered and greedy for the things which make me alive and I thank the one who delivers.

Early morning to beat the heat and snatch some good fresh air we drove to our farm to find just the right weather during monsoons to share a cup of hot masala  tea with a friend who frequented our farm to keep it fertile.

The caretaker was more than welcoming to look after us. As I relaxed on my jhoola, his wife with pallu on her head came with the steaming hot tea. This was my second interaction with her. She stood there smilingly telling me several stories to be heard amid the chirpings.

Her nosepin caught my attention and my greed tookover the sounds. She shared it was of gold from her village. I requested her to buy me a similar one when she planned to visit there in next three months. She blushed promising that she would bring even better one. I requested for the same.

After a few formalities  and  relaxed moments we were all set to leave. The farmer brought us the basket full of fresh fruits and vegetables and his better half walked straight up to me and handed over her gold nosepin with a smile.

I first refused and then could not muster up courage to refuse more, this was the only piece of jewelry she adorned on herself and she cleansed it and desired to put it on me herself.

I was more than touched by her gesture, I didn’t know what to do next. Thanked her, struggled my hand in my purse to grab some money. I just pulled out whatever I could feel and handed over to her. She looked so contented in the act of giving that never even for a fraction looked down to her hands.

I still cannot stop my tears running down, I bow down to her, the bigger than life, Rambha.
